E-FAN ANNOUNCEMENTS:
- July 2010: Price reduced on the 20E1.5 Electric Attack Fan! Previously $3307.45 as shown, if you do not require GFCI compatibility, you can save $$$ and get a fantastic fan!
- GFCI-compatible Electric Fan model 20E1.5GFCI - Coming in September 2010. Not yet detailed on this page, the GFCI-compatible Electric Fan will have the same motor as 20E1.5 but a different controller which allows for GFCI circuit compatibility. The price will be $3200 and it will be available with optional Wheels/Skids. Details and photos to come.
- Anyone with GFCI-compatible equipment, if you have trouble with it popping the circuit anyway, read this note about pre-2004 GFCI circuits.

Variable speed VENTRY Electric Fans combine three-phase technology with the patented three-legged frame and aircraft-style Safety Propellers exclusive to the VENTRY brand. This means big benefits to fire fighters and others who need large amounts of air in a hurry and zero carbon monoxide emissions. VENTRY Electric Fans give you the benefits of sophisticated three phase electric motors, high air volume, and all-terrain versatility in a robust but reasonably sized fan.
Like all VENTRY Fans...
...the VENTRY Electric Fan is appropriate for aggressive, coordinated positive pressure attack and ventilation because of high air volume and versatility. Like all VENTRY Fans, it is very quiet, robust but not bulky, and fits in small storage spaces. Like all VENTRY Fans, the Safety Propeller on the electric fan provides a consistent, narrow air cone which moves the highest air volume at distances far back from the door (8 to 15 feet), well out of the way, leaving entry/exit clear for firefighters and hose. Like all VENTRY Fans, legs stand solid on uneven terrain, straddle obstacles, lift controls within easy reach, allow fast and infinite aiming, and lift airstream over common obstructions like porches or stairs. FInally, like all VENTRY Fans, we work hard to keep this sophisticated three-phase ppv fan fairly priced.

Benefits / Advantages
VENTRY 1.5hp Electric Fans offer...
- Independently extendable legs for fast, sturdy setup on any terrain and unlimited tilt and aiming of the air stream.
- Over 12,000 cfm verified with 9.3 pounds of thrust. Fire fighters will not sacrifice volume when they switch to electric when they choose the VENTRY brand Electric Fan. Ventilation and attack require a lot of air. Do not compromise on this crucial fact! And keep in mind that CFM may be misleading. We encourage you to ask manufacturers how they measure fan volume and ask for face-to-face blow-offs and deonstrations to see relative fan performance for yourself!
- Three phase technology.
- Weight of 69 pounds (71 pounds with the optional Wheels and Folding Tow Handle).
- No initial power spike; will not exceed 20A at start-up!
- A drive that accepts single phase input (standard 110V household current) but outputs three phase to the motor greatly reducing size and weight.
- Storage size: Fits in a 2 x 2 x 2 foot compartment with a little room to spare, same size as our popular 20-inch gas model.
- Variable speed drive allows for precise setting anywhere between 0 and 3600 RPM to accomodate lower power supplies.
- UL and CSA Listed (Underwriters Laboratories and Canadian Standards Association)
Three phase technology on VENTRY Electric Fan provides these benefits...
- Size and Weight. Significantly reduces the the size and weight of the motor, by 25 to 50%, which is crucial for one-person operation and limited storage compartments.
- Efficiency. Three-phase systems provide almost constant torque and deliver more power using less amperage than single phase.
- Compatibility. Three-phase technology allows for expanded control of motor operations for greater compatibility with standard power supplies. For example, through programming, the VENTRY Electric Fan is programmed to limit its power draw at startup to 20A (no initial spike), thereby avoiding the need for huge breakers and other protections. It is also programmed to utilize all 20A (2400W) when set at the highest setting, so as to achieve maximum air volume (CFM) when the supply allows. When necessary, the variable speed dial may be lowered to accomodate a smaller power source.
- Note: The VENTRY Electric Fan plugs into a normal household current (single phase) but converts it to three-phase for the motor.
Electric motors in general offer these benefits...
- lower maintenance (essentially none)
- no emissions
- quieter operation than combustion engines
- smoother operation so less prone to vibration/walking than fans with combustion engines
- can be tipped or oriented in any direction

Plugs and Cords

|
1.5 hp Electric VENTRY Fans come with a 20 Amp plug wired on. Choose either a Locking NEMA L5-20 (left photo) which we use by default if not specified or a Non-Locking NEMA plug 5-20 (right photo). Others by request, just ask. Click the photos to enlarge. |

Any extension cord you choose to use with this electric fan must have an ampacity of 20 amps or greater. You can run 12 gauge up to 250 feet long. Anything longer than 250 feet must be 10 gauge.
For Best Results
The VENTRY Electric 1.5 hp Fan is programmed not to exceed more than 20 amps, even at start-up; there is no initial spike in power draw. It is also programmed to use all 20 amps (2400W) when set at the highest setting so as to achieve maximum air volume (CFM), so make sure your power supply is sufficient. When necessary, the variable speed dial may simply be reduced to accomodate a lower power supply.
Please note that many factors affect power supply, including other equipment drawing power from the same circuit and the gauge and length of cord into which the fan may be plugged. The electric fan’s digital display will flash a blinking red line to warn you if its power supply is insufficient for the draw. Simply turn down the fan’s variable speed in this case, decreasing the power draw. Note that air volume will decrease accordingly.
