VENTRY FAN CHANGES, SUMMER 2010

Ultimate Door Stops

One free Ultimate Door Stop is now included with every VENTRY Fan shipped from our factory. Click here for more info.

Horsepower ratings have changed

Due to litigation against small engine manufacturers (Honda, Briggs & Stratton, Tecumseh and others), horsepower ratings for the Honda motors utilized in VENTRY Fans and others have changed. Note: The motors and models have not changed, just the HP ratings that are supposed to be advertised. Our communications are being updated to reflect the new ratings and are therefore lower than you may see elsewhere, despite being the same motors. Please see our Motors Specs page to see/compare our fan motors’ original and new HP ratings.

New body style on several 20-inch VENTRY Fans

Effective mid-June 2010, there are now two different body styles on 20-inch VENTRY Fans. The new body style has a roll bar, just like larger 24-inch VENTRY Fans have had all along. Please click here to visit our Downloads page where there is a short flyer detailing the two body styles.

Two different Wheels options available on VENTRY Fans

As of July 2010, there are now two different Wheels options available on VENTRY Fans: Wheels & Folding Tow Handle and Wheels/Skids. Fans with “Wheels & Folding Tow Handle” include either solid rubber wheels or pneumatic tires on the front and a handle in the back. Fans with the “Wheels/Skids” option include solid rubber wheels, a vertical handle, and stair skids. Please click here to go to the Fan Options page of this site for details, or click here to visit our Downloads page where there is a brief flyer explaining all options.

Safety Light option availability change on VENTRY Fan models

The popular Point of Entry Safety Light is optional on four VENTRY fan models, including a new 20-inch fan (20GX160). It is being discontinued, however, on fans with GX120 motors (20GX120 and 24GX120). We are still able to offer 20GX120 and 24GX120 fans (3.5 hp) with this light while our supply of the specially-equipped motors holds out. After that, fans with GX120 motors will no longer have the Safety Light optional, but fans with GX160 or GX200 motors will have the Safety Light optional. Click here to read about the Point of Entry Safety Light on the Fan Options page of this site, or click here to visit the Downloads page for a brief flyer explaining the changes.

Price reduced on non-GFCI Electric VENTRY Fan 20E1.5

We have been able to reduce the price on our 1.5 hp 20 Amp Electric VENTRY Fan, model 20E1.5. This electric fan is not GFCI-compatible, but for those who do not require GFCI protection, it is a great fan and a great deal! This model now also includes Wheels & Folding Tow Handle standard. Please click here to see the Electric Fan page of this site for details.

Please contact Joan (Communications) if you have any problems or have questions!

750W bulb replaces 650W in LENTRY Systems

6/10/2010: 750 watt halogen bulbs are now used in all LENTRY® System Lights which previously used 650 watt hi-infrared (hi-IR) bulbs. GE no longer makes the hi-IR bulbs.

Click for PDF file
Click the image above to get a printable announcement off our Downloads page.

Without the hi-IR bulb, this new 750 watt bulb is the most efficient option, having the best power-to-output ratio available. Each bulb offers 21,000 lumens of light, twice that of comparable 500W bulbs and five times that of comparable quality but more expensive LEDs available. With both lights on at once, LENTRY units with a 2-Headed XT light or Dual lights will now output 42,000 lumens using just 1500W.

This bulb change will have no effect on the appearance, size, weight or price of LENTRY Systems except that 750W backup/replacement bulbs by themselves will be less expensive than the original 650W Hi-IR bulbs.

Customers who already own lights with 650W hi-IR bulbs may use the 750W bulbs as backups or replacements; the two are interchangeable. Please call us with any questions or concerns; you will be taken care of!

Ventry Solutions Inc logo J. Neils Enterprises, Inc. logo

J. Neils Enterprises is now Ventry Solutions, Inc.

After years of discussion and thought, we have just made a big, important change for the sake of marketing. Beginning immediately, our business name will be Ventry Solutions, Inc. instead of J. Neils Enterprises, Inc.! Only the business name changes; all other information remains the same.

The reason for this change is to make it as easy as possible for our customers and partners to find us! “J Neils” was hard to remember, pronounce, alphabetize and spell. The name change does not diminish in the least the great pride we take in our family business and products, but it does simplify paperwork and make marketing much easier!

We estimate that tthe complete transition to VENTRY Solutions, Inc. will probably take a full year. Thank you for your patience as the new name gradually replaces the old and all of our communications (including our website) are updated.

Positive Pressure Attack and Ventilation
Press Release by Ventry Solutions

Published March 2010 in Asia Pacific Fire Magazine published by MDM Publishing

Ventry Solutions, Inc. is the manufacturer of VENTRY® Fans for Positive Pressure Attack and Ventilation (PPA and PPV). Our mission is to build the best equipment keeping safety, quality, and value in mind with a simple design, for minimal maintenance and intuitive, cost-effective operation.

Positive Pressure Ventilation is a tool every fire department should have in their toolbox. Cancer rates among today’s firefighters are increasing along with the higher fuel loads and greater smoke toxicity present in today’s modern fire grounds. With proper training, PPV can lower firefighters’ exposure by removing the poisonous smoke quickly.

Positive Pressure Attack (also know as Tactical Positive Pressure Ventilation) is an aggressive coordinated fire attack using positive pressure ventilation. This coordinated attack—using a high air volume fan—can transform the fire from a potentially explosive fuel-controlled fire into a stable ventilation-controlled fire within seconds. This rapidly delivers fresh air to victims, reduces temperatures, purgesflammable gases, and increases the stability and survivability of the interior environment. With improved visibility, crews can proceed with their attack, safely eliminating the need to crawl blindly through a hot and potentially explosive environment. Interior conditions improve quickly allowing for a fast fire attack, efficient searches, reduced knockdown times and lower environmental temperatures. This minimizes firefighter exposure to environmental toxins and improves victims’ survival rates while decreasing property damage.

The first few minutes of a fire attack are crucial. PPA requires knowledge, training, and a fan capable of pushing a large volume of air. The engineered features of VENTRY Fans—including their aircraft style propellers, curved legs and small size--make them ideal for aggressive, coordinated attacks.

The trademarked three-legged design and smoke-busting safety propellers of VENTRY Fans provide unparalleled versatility and volume. These features allow VENTRY Fans to be placed far back and off to the side where firefighters need them, not in the middle of the path where they are trying to advance hose lines and execute an attack. The propeller materials and shape make them safe and efficient. They quickly move a very large volume of air and produce a narrow air cone for precise aiming from a greater distance. The legs allow the fan to be positioned on uneven ground, straddle debris, set up on stairs, and aim the airstream over obstacles while requiring only one firefighter to operate. Legs provide aiming and unlimited placement of VENTRY Fans, for better access and communication with the crews. With unique, all-terrain versatility, VENTRY Fans stand UP to the challenges of today’s fires.

Please visit www.ventry.com to find the perfect VENTRY Fan model and the ideal options for your fire fighters.

LENTRY System with Fixed Light

LENTRY Power & Light Systems are now available with a fixed light. As opposed to the telescoping Polelights available on other LENTRY Systems, this fixed light connects directly to the generator and does not disconnect without the use of tools. No light base is needed.

Click here for a flyer in PDF format (including the price).

This super-efficient light emits 21,000 lumens, twice that of comparable 500 watt bulbs. The complete unit costs slightly less than other EU2000i LENTRY models because the light connects directly to the generator and therefore no light base is needed.

The complete unit weighs just 64 pounds. It can retract to as little as 21 inches high and 32 inches deep (figure A) or to less than 28 inches high and less than 28 inches deep (figure B). It stands approximately 44 inches high, from ground to the top of the light. The bulb, or center of the light, is about 38 inches off the ground when the light is up and the legs are extended (figure C).

The light may be aimed up and down along one central plane, but does not telescope up or rotate to either side. Legs allow the entire unit to be repositioned as necessary.

The Honda EU2000i generator is rated to power this light for more than 13.5 hours on a 1.1 gallon tank of gas.

This new complete LENTRY unit includes only three parts: A Honda® Eu2000i Generator, LENTRY Legs (also called the Frame), and a 750 Watt Halogen Light which is fixed to the generator. As with all LENTRY models, individual components may be ordered to retrofit to existing generators and their international equivalents.

VENTRY Electric PPV Fan

Ventry Solutions, Inc. (formerly J. Neils Enterprises, Inc.) now offers an Electric VENTRY Fan for positive pressure attack and ventilation (PPA and PPV). The VENTRY Electric Fan combines three phase technology with the all-terrain three-legged design and aircraft-style Safety Propellers exclusive to the VENTRY brand.

Electric motors offer these advantages over gas/combustion engines:

  • lower maintenance (essentially none)
  • no emissions
  • quieter than combustion engines
  • smoother so less prone to walking
  • can be tipped in any direction (no fluids inside to cause problems)

The VENTRY Electric Fan offers all the benefits of electrics shown above, plus legs for infinite angle adjustment, plus air volumes previously associated only with gas-powered fans! For fire/rescue, the Electric VENTRY Fan is ideal for positive pressure attack and ventilation, not just post-knock-down mop-up.

This 1.5 hp model accepts single phase input and outputs three phase to the motor. It weighs just 69 pounds, fits in a 2- x 2- x 2-foot compartment (with depth to spare), and offers 12,080 CFM. It will not exceed 20 amps, even at start-up (no initial spike). It is also variable speed, so may be set at any point between 0 and 3450 RPM.
